Yorkton and District Horticultural Society

The YDHS had their first, live in-person Fruit, Flower and Vegetable Show on Wednesday, August 10 at the Parkland Mall, Yorkton.  Yes, a brand new venue, and we were all eager to be there and see our gardening friends again!

It was a great show; we had well over 100 guests attend, and while they sipped coffee and nibbled on cookies, they were able to browse through the many displays ranging from containers, cut flowers, and flower arrangements.  The number of  fruits and vegetables was also good, considering the challenging spring that many of our gardeners experienced with hail, heat, and pounding rain.

We had guests of all ages, and it was a delight to see them all, especially the guests from the Nursing Home, members of the Flower Patch Flower Arranging Group.  Wonderful to have you at the show!

We thank everyone for coming, we all enjoyed “talking gardening” with you! Thank you to the Parkland Mall for their great help in making our show a reality again, it is much appreciated!  Thank you to Cole at Access for his coverage of the show, and to our friends at Yorkton This Week for all their ongoing support of our group.  Thank you all!

And last but not least, thank you to the enthusiastic members of the Society who took part in the show.  Your entries, your work at the tables, your lively conversation with our guests all made the event a success!  As Michael Jordan said, “Some people want it to happen, some wish it would happen, others make it happen.”  Those of you who took part and brought it all to life with your participation did indeed “make it happen”!  Thank you all!
