Let’s begin with a bouquet of “thank yous” to many people who made the Saskatchewan Horticultural Association convention last week a great success! This interesting event was hosted by the Yorkton and District Horticultural Society, and it was wonderful to meet with gardeners from all over the province and discuss various aspects of gardening and horticultural societies.
First, a thank you to our many kind sponsors of the event: Skinners Classic Greenhouse; Molly`s Greenhouse; Young’s Plant World & Greenhouse; Peavey Mart; Canadian Tire; Great Canadian Superstore; Yorkton Co-op Assoc. Ltd; Cornerstone Credit Union; Toronto-Dominion Bank; Giant Tiger; McDonalds Restaurant; Dollarama; Growers Direct; All About Flowers; Florissima Flowers & Crafts; Custom Printers Ltd; Painted Hand Casino; City of Yorkton; Tourism Yorkton; C. Jones Trucking Inc.; Canamera Carriers (A Trimac Company); and Parkland Printers Ltd. Thank you to all of you for your generosity and support! It was very much appreciated!
Thank you to our many guests who travelled from various points in Saskatchewan: it was a pleasure to share your company and we hope you enjoyed your stay in our beautiful city!
Next, a thank you to members of the Yorkton and District Horticultural Society who helped in so many ways: planning, baking, decorating, serving, and attending the event. A special rose of thanks to our president Liz Jones who worked tirelessly taking care of many details that sometimes might go unseen but are vital for making the event flow smoothly. Thank you, Liz!
And also thank you to our fascinating speakers who gave us much to learn and much to inspire—Stephanie Buckle from All About Flowers; Warren Crossman; Don Stein from the Godfrey Dean; and Sonja Pawliw. Thanks to Jeff and the staff at St. Gerard’s Parish Complex for the great venue and delicious banquet; to Mayor Bob Maloney for making time in his busy schedule to officially open the convention; to the City of Yorkton for graciously declaring October 23 to be “Horticulture Day” in Yorkton; to the Yorkton Public Library for housing a display to celebrate this event; to Jackie Guy for the beautiful music at our banquet, it was wonderful and we enjoyed it immensely; and to Access Communications for their coverage.
A great event!
